New Hotel for High Wycombe - Town Centre regeneration continues as Walsingham Planning secure approval
Walsingham Planning is very pleased to have been able to add to the other significant regeneration projects which have transformed this part of the town centre by securing full planning approval for a new 5 storey hotel which provides a new frontage to Archway.
The principle of an hotel as part of the continuing town centre regeneration was always accepted but the detailed design and layout of the project needed careful preparation. Walsingham Planning organised a Public Exhibition of the proposals at which local residents were able to comment on the scheme and engaged with the local amenity group The Wycombe Society as well as having detailed discussions with the Council.
A detailed analysis of long range views of the site was necessary as High Wycombe town centre sits on the valley floor. Working with the project architects the submitted Design & Access Statement included “before” and “after” close and long range views which satisfied the Council that the scheme would make a positive contribution to the town centre.
It was also necessary to ensure that the scheme would make a positive contribution toward the long term regeneration of surrounding sites and realignment of highways which it is hoped will lead to Archway becoming a pedestrianized extension to the Frogmore area helping to re- integrate the town centre.
The scheme was approved without the need for reference to Committee.
