Client in a hurry to secure grade II* listed building approval – Walsingham Planning find a way
Walsingham Planning were instructed by Principal Hayley Group to advise on the extent of refurbishment/repair works that could be undertaken without the need for Listed Building Consent (LBC) and to secure approval for those that required it.
The Russell Hotel is a very fine grade II* Listed Building (within the top 6% of all Listed buildings in the country) with a particularly impressive entrance hall and reception in a high Victorian style with the use of a wide variety of stone finishes reminiscent of parts of the better known St Pancras Chambers.
Walsingham Planning visited the site with the project managers and architects to review the entire works programme to prioritise on site works and co-ordinate the necessary LBC applications in order to achieve the clients’ timescales.
Walsingham Planning liaised with the Borough Council and English Heritage to ensure that the applications could be submitted within the programme. The level of information to be provided in the application was carefully negotiated so that there would be no undue delays in submission and agreement was reached on how more detailed information could follow. The substance of the proposal was also fully explained and discussed on site to ensure that the application would be unopposed.
Walsingham Planning were able to secure the approval as required.
