Director, Mark Krassowski, has brought his substantial retail planning experience to Walsingham Planning and this aspect of the business is now expanding.  This experience was gained in acting for many retail operators and developers on sites across the UK. Mark’s experience includes acting for retailers such as Sainsbury, Tesco, Lidl, B&Q, Wickes and Dixons, wholesale operator Costco and shopping centre owner and developer Westfield Shoppingtowns. Mark has also promoted numerous retail schemes for landowners and developers on town centre, edge of centre and out of centre sites.

Numerous consents have been obtained for the German ‘deep discounter’ Lidl on sites including in London, Oxford, Whitby, Spennymoor, Durham, Featherstone and Thirsk. In Oxford, consent was won on appeal following a public inquiry in 2006 for the city’s first deep discount store in an out of centre location. Most recently Walsingham Planning has concluded the long campaign to achieve a new Lidl store in Alperton, this has now been secured as part of a major regeneration scheme, see link below.

In Maidenhead, Mark acted for Sainsbury’s Supermarkets in gaining planning consent for a new town centre superstore as part of a redevelopment of the clients existing supermarket, office block and council owned multi-storey car park, The scheme, which sought to maximise development opportunities of an important town centre site, also included residential and public car parking above the store, restaurants, and IT training centre, an office building and public piazza.

On the non food side Mark has obtained consent for various retail warehouse units including PC World in Oxford, B&Q in Stoke-on Trent and Wickes in Salisbury, and retail parks in Lichfield, Taunton, Sheffield and Brent Cross, London.

Specialist retail planning skills include site appraisals, quantitative and qualitative need assessments, sequential assessments and impact assessments.
