Walsingham Planning play an active role on behalf of various clients, representing their interests through the new Local Development Framework (LDF) and Development Plan Documents (DPD) process.
As Local Plans and UDP’s are replaced in accordance with the new planning policy regime, there are opportunities to challenge existing policies and allocations in order to promote development on individual sites, as well as to offer more general promotion for types of development proposal.
We currently act on behalf of individual and corporate land owners, making representations in the LDF process in various locations across mainland UK, including Norwich, Bracknell and Cannock.
Reviews of policy offer a unique opportunity to influence decision making and to transform the chances of success for specific projects. The LDF system is complex and, as yet, it is not fully tested, but Walsingham Planning have made representations at various stages of the process. Representations need to be carefully tailored to the circumstances of individual cases, calling in evidence and supporting material as necessary. These exercises might include comparisons with other competing sites, sieving exercises to illustrate unique advantages, investigations of available facilities and services, all of which may be needed to support a representation. We can lead this process, calling upon other expertise as needed to maximise the chances of success.
Examples include:
-
Taking commercial land out of the Green Belt so that its potential can be unlocked
-
Promoting urban land for alternate uses
-
Promoting rural land for urban expansion
