The day is about to dawn

So, here I am sitting in a hotel in Greenwich watching the football carefully maintaining my hydration balance with a couple of beers and contemplating a start time for our London to Paris cycle ride tomorrow morning which seems to have crept forward from 07.00 to 06.30.
Our gallant band from Walsingham Planning, the Walsingham Wheelers, is gathering for a briefing later this evening which I am hoping will explain how our route in Kent seems to manage to pick out every single hill in the county of Kent! There should be a cycle path alongside HS1, that must manage to find a flat route across the county and it would be a great step forward for sustainable European travel.
With the woes of the planning world left to our colleagues in the offices, we can concentrate on hills, wind, traffic, potholes (we will report if French roads are better maintained than UK roads), roadside crepe suzette and the other delights that we are looking forward to.
We have the fantastic “tail wind” of having exceeded our sponsorship target of £3,000 and the prospect of meeting our colleagues in Paris to look forward to (who had better have champagne waiting or there could be imminent staff changes!).
As it says on the footer to our email messages, we will have only intermittent access to emails not to mention the energy to read them and think beyond eating, drinking and sleeping, but our colleagues in the offices will be vigilant on our behalf.
Right, re-hydration is an extremely important business and like all men I am incapable of multi-tasking, so I had better concentrate on the important business in hand.
Another instalment tomorrow if circumstances allow.
